the last few weeks

IMG_1603

...have been interesting and stretching for us. As the dust settles I am realizing so much and being reminded that these are the times that we grow, that we figure out who we are and the moments that push us to be better.

A few weeks ago Dan woke up with an upset stomach, which turned to seizing pain, that landed us at the hospital and him in surgery. It was scary and left us feeling vulnerable and longing for familiar things.

We were uncertain of if Dan would keep his job, he was still on temp status. We were 15 days away from having insurance. We were 2000 miles from our support system.

Having him off of work for more than a week cut into our savings for the winter. When he went back to work they told him he'd be busy until the end of November. He got laid off two weeks ago. Ha.

So it's been a stretching season. There has been much good amidst the struggle. There always is. Sometimes it just pushes you to look harder.

  2. So sorry to hear about Dan's illness and lack of work. Praying you can feel God's presence and comfort through all of this.
I came to your site this morning to tell you how much I appreciate you mentioning the book, Radical. Since I read that on your blog, my husband and I have been reading it. It is changing us for the better. I'm praying God will give us the courage to be obedient to "Go and make disciples". We've got some decisions to make.
Just wanted you to know that God has used you to speak to me. Thanks. =)
